i got up this morning and noticed a flash of white at the bottom of my tank. it was the belly of my 8 inch silver aro. it was perfect last night. its barbels were doing great and his/her tail was bright red. The water was good. he/she has always been a picky eater but wasn't starving. i dont feed shrimp that could potentially have those spines. eats hikari and full spectrum. i did a 10% water change a couple days ago maybe that was it? the other fish are fine.

what gives?!?!

i know this comes with the hobby but i was shocked with this one. thanks for reading, i needed a nice vent.

edit: trying to solve this mystery. tankmates are 3x 5''ish plecos, 4x 5'' bichirs (3 senegal, 1 delhezi), and 1x 4'' sun cat. they live in an established 72 bowfront running a fluval 304 and rena xp3.

Nope...that's never fun. Sorry for your loss.

I don't see the tankmates causing any trouble...that's a pretty well-behaved bunch.

Did you see any marks on the body? I would pay close attention to the head...some people lose aros due to them getting jumpy and hitting the center brace on their tank.

my aro never jumped. who knows, maybe somebody was over last night and caused him to freak. i live with a few roommates.

his head looked in good shape, the barbels looked a bit nipped at, probably from being a floater in the tank for a little bit of the twilight hour. body was in good shape, no bumps, bruises or sores. not bloated.

i need to get over it. just sucks. my first true monster to be..... sigh...

That sucks, sorry for your loss. There is nothing worse than not knowing why.
