My big male festae took the leap of faith today. I just found him dried up on the floor  I have glass lids on the tank and he still somehow managed to get out. Between this and the losses I had in my grow out tank a while ago I'm just not sure I can take losing any more fish. I brought this guy back from the brink of death and he was finally looking awesome. Him and my female were paired up and I was hoping for a spawn from them. I am devastated

Here he is from just a few days ago

sorry for your loss.
Keep ya head up, oooo child things are gonna get easier
ooooo child things'll
get brighter

I'm sorry as well. But on my 150gal tank, I made a wooden hood.
It gives an 8" gap between water level, And the top of the hood.
So it leaves room for play. I'll be in the other room, And hear my Oscars
jumping. Larger fish will jump, It's not suicide, It's just showing out.

Spike:grinno:

Really sorry to hear that Sandy. Things like this can definitely take it out of most people. Just remember to keep your head up and know that things happen for a reason. Im sure you didnt want to hear that but maybe something better might come along... It is really hard to keep goin at times but it will pay off, and its very easy to quit!! youll bounce back im sure:)

Thank you for the words of encouragement. I do know things happen for a reason and I'm pretty sure I know what that reason is, but it still sucks to lose such a nice fish. My poor female has calmed down but is obviously upset. She's bar-ed up and sulking around the tank, looking miserable :( I'm hoping that the male I got from you starts to take his place :naughty:
