image.jpgwas surprised to see someone selling this species. I'm guessing that the idea of leaving this beast in a 300 that most would say is too small for a motoro for years was a joke. Or do they grow at very slow rate. I know nothing about species because the only way I could keep would be to flood my entire house. Anybody keep before or know growth rate?

I saw that yesterday. I'm hoping its a joke, it would be awful to see someone buy it and leave it in a 300 it's whole life.

I really feel like this is a species that should be protected and we should not support the sale of them. I think it's ridiculous to even attempt to house a beast like this long term and we all know where this beautiful ray will end up.

I agree but if I had a 50000 gallon aquarium I should have the right to purchase. I believe vendors should be more responsible. I recently disagreed with lfs selling arapimas I told him it is not responsible to sell without disclaimer and photos of full grown adult, but where do you draw the line. Who is the bad guy the undereducated consumer or seller?

Couldnt agree more. Vendors should be more responsible than petcos or walmarts.

I definitely agree that your right to own one should be protected, but I think it should be much harder to achieve. A 50,000 gallon aquarium is not a common thing and very hard to achieve due to legal codes, logistics, space, etc. Other than price, this ray is no harder to own than a tetra and I feel like that is the vendor's fault. They are listed as threatened as it is. I know we deal with this issue all the time though and it just sucks to know that this awesome creature will most likely end up dead because someone's pocketbook was bigger than their tank!

Look at tail that is no Florida Ray and I don't blame anyone trying to make a living. No one has answered my question on growth rate is it possible this species grows very slow and can be kept in tank size suggested for years. this seems impossible and is unethical if not the truth
