OK so my Silver Aro hasn't eaten in 2weeks tried a variety of things the ony thing he finally ate was a goldfish.. I had him for 2 years and is 22"+.
Today my one spotted gar was laying upside down at the bottom. a half hour ago he resurfaced and is swimming around but he seems to have a slight bend in his body.
I treated the tank last week with Mela and Pimafix in case the Aro might have something. Do my water changes, temp 76-78, no ammonia of nitrite levels. Tank has been stable for 2 years with no new additions within the past year. How would I know if it is a parasite internal or external?

Any help would be great. Thanks everyone

Two weeks is a long time to wait to ask.

Any reason to suspect a parasite? (not so fresh foods / feeders?)

Is the gar eating?

Fish usually 'flash' (trying to rub whatever is on them off) or have sores, anomalies on their skin/scales with external parasites.

Internal parasites cause bloating, lack of appetite, bursts of energy and running into things (crazy behavior), partial or total paralysis, diarrhea.

These are by no means all the symptoms for parasites, just common ones.

Anything in the tank electrical (intermittent, leaking or broken)? Can you measure the tank for electrical current (ground to water...any voltage).

High electrical fields in the water will produce the symptoms you have too.

It seems that one of my heaters crapped out when I checked it. But how do I check for electrical leakage? Would I see any parasites? Everyone looks clean to my eyes. Can I use some coppersafe or something just as a precautionary measure just in case?
