...my G. Spenleri just ate from my fingertips. Her name (which I came up with before I sexed her) is Egon Spengleri. She sort of opened her mouth at me in a weird way when I dangled the red wiggler. I wasn't sure if it was a defense mechanism or an end-of-Clockwork-Orange-esque "eggy-weg" lazy feeding response, but when the worm hit her beak she took it.

...maybe it's because she's got 2 friends coming tomorrow?!

My goal is to get some breeding going and donate babies to the Staten Island Zoo!

Awesome..good luck with your mission..

Thanks! She found a little hollow under a rock I didn't even know existed, and I can tell she's there because she's under the mist line near the water in the tank I built, and when she breathes she shoots up twin jets of smoke from her nostrils like some kind of ridiculously tiny dragon. You can sort of see it at the end of the below video.

These turtles are ridiculously cool.

(She ate or trampled like 90% of these plants, btw. And grew like 1''. Currently converting to more hardy plants and feeding more fruit.)

Very nice! I'm imagining the G. Spenleri is a typo since you named that cute little girl Egon Spengleri. I'm only pointing it out as you where nice enough to share your girl with us and others might be interested in finding out more info. So for anyone interested the scientific name is Geoemyda spengleri/Vietnamese Leaf Turtle and it is one of the smallest growing turtles usually maxing out at under 5 inches. Here's a quick descrip. link http://www.turtlepuddle.org/exotics/spengleri.html Again man thanks for sharing and good luck with all of them and your attempt to breed them.

So I was a little worried that my "big" (still tiny-these max out at 4'' or so) turtle might boss around the little guys and things could get dangerous for them, but the opposite happened, haha.

So far the most vicious thing that's happened was when the big one pushed the little one out of the way to steal a worm. Otherwise they just posture at each other, sometimes with their mouths open, and so far the big one always runs away from the dominant one that's like 1/3 her size. Pretty hilarious.
