Okay so my Hollonlop bunny broke its leg a while ago(around 1 month ago)

I brought it to the vet and he popped a cast on it that had his leg strait and just dragging behind his body. Today i went to the vet again for a check up and he said the cast could come off. This is the bad part.

We take the cast off and the bunny has no movement in his left hind leg:(:(:(:(:(:(

Does anyone know y this happened?

The vet even said it was a very minor break and that it shouldnt be a problem

I mean when i dropped him off at the vet with the messed up leg he could move it but i could tell he was in pain:(

Was it the vets fault?

Wat can i do to help gain leg control again and is this normal for an hurt leg?

HELP:(
Thanks

Im no bunny expert but maybe since the leg has been out of commision for some time the muscles may have gotten weaker and he cant support the leg. I could be wrong.

What did the vet say about it?

It's not the vets fault, if stiffness has set into the leg like this then that's just how it is. Your bunny would have been just as bad off with a painful broken leg.

It's quite possible that he's not used to putting weight onto the leg or using it anymore, since it's been a month. Give it some time.

You need to tell us what the Vet. said about the loss of mobility, though.

might wanna try some light massage and movement exercises might help the leg

Yeah, probably just used to not using the leg. He may start to use it again in time.

Bunny physical therapy may help

rabbits rely on their back legs for escape, and they excercise their back legs alot, such as you have seen your bunny do "blinkeys" ect and hop about. a month with out using it can make it very weak. allow bunny large amount of room to excercise his leg. he should regain muscle tone and what not in his leg. but dont be surprised if it takes a while. by the way, do tell us what the vet said. if you think your vet was the casue go to another one. why question it? and alot of vets are not certified for anyting other than dogs, cats and the usual farm animal. alot of them dont know what to do wiht "exotic" pets. if you really think it was the vets fault dont go back to them. give bunny several months to excercise his leg. about 2-3. after that, i dont think you are going to get much luck out of the leg. and in the mean time find a nother vet and get their opinion as well. possibly the break was not supported right, ect and fused at the wrong spot. either way, good luck!
