I lost 2 Angels in almost 2 months. Earlier today I noticed a third acting odd. Now tonight he seems to be following the same pattern the other 2 did when they were on the way out. Not active or swimming staying in one place at the surface, no reaction to food, head facing upward, tail is not flared but almost closed or 'pinched' together. This was our first Angel my son will be so upset if we lose it. We've had him since the end of May. Always greeting us at the glass. Now, just stays in the same spot looking towards the top..

My water reading:

Temp: Steady 82
Ammo:0
Nitrite:0
Nitrate:40
Hardness:300
Alkaline: 40
pH: 6.8

Last water change ( 30%) 2 wks ago,

Any idea what could be wrong? Is there anything I can do?

I hope you can cure your fish. I woke up this morning to find my favorite black molly doing the exact same thing. I don't know what it is, but I transferred him to a net breeder so the other fish don't pick on him. I also added fish protector to put in electrolytes.

How is the angel doing now?

Awww, I lost the him earlier this week.

I posted another thread in the Angelfish forum:

It appears Angels are prone to the 'white stringy poop' problem. Symptoms reflect those of Hexamita. Angelfish breeders I've talked to said that some may still get struck with it and just feed them, weekly water changes, and keep the temp up. The survivors will live through it and the weak will not. So it just sucks. How's your Molly?

My molly is still doing okay. Same thing with having hard time swimming and stuff, but is alive and eating. That's what counts. I know eventually she/he will die off, but I hate to see it. This was the first black molly I have ever had and we have a great relationship. Will come and 'pet' me when my hands are in water. Even goes into my cupped hands. Originally, this was a she. But, after not having males in the tank for months, she turned into a he. I love this fish.

Awww, how sweet! So was HE fine and then suddenly he started acting different? I don't know squat about Mollies so don't take my advice but I heard Mollies love salty water and then you can't go wrong with weekly water changes at minimum. Wish I could make some real suggestions but I would feel horrible if he didn't make it cuz I gave you bad advise.

The Angel we lost was the 1st one we bought. He was dime size tiny but oh so fully of energy and personality. Always at the tank to greet you. I would go to one side of the tank put my face kinda close, he would swim like mad to me. Then I move to the opposite end of the tank and as soon as he saw me he'd dart right over. Reminds me of a dog wagging their tail they way he would swish his little body back and forth. Funny how attached we get to these little things. I'll keep my fins crossed for him!!

I have lots of salt in the molly water. I even add vitamins to their water, that's how spoiled they are. They have more variety of food then I have seen for myself in a lifetime.
He seems okay, but don't know if he will make it now. Their 30 gallon had a disaster today when my niece leaned a full bucket of water on the side. It must have broken one of the seals. I had to catch everyone and put them in a 5.5 gallon for now until I can get a different tank on Monday. Stress is definitely not a friend to the average molly, and this one will be stressed in that tiny tank.

I have 3 angels and they are wonderful. I did have another, but he was very nippy and was terrorizing the others, so I gave him to a friend as her only angel. He has taken her over by "demanding" she pay attention to him. Mine do the same thing. They are so sweet the way they look.
