Notopterus notopterus

What can anyone tell me about this knife? I've read that they seldom attain they're normal length of 2 feet in the home aquarium but I'm not so sure I believe it. Also what size tank is usually reccomended for this species?

And when I ask what size tank I dont mean barely adequate... I really want it to thrive...not just exist.

This will make it easier...I have two tanks to choose from, 46" by 20" by 20" or 36" by 36" by 18"
If the Notopterus notopterus will get too big for either one I will definitely go with the smaller Xenomystus Nigri.

N. Notopterus are the more aggressive Knives of the Chitala species. So a bigger tank will help it's aggression. They actually don't grow to 2' but more around 10"-12" They tend to be aggressive towards each other as territory is always problematic. Give it plenty of hiding spots as well.

In the tank footprints previously described would it be possible to keep a m/f pair? Assuming I'm that lucky

I can't seem to find an albino, all sorts of albino clown's but no albino N. Notopterus.

And my LFS is of no help whatsoever I've been looking online exclusively.

Interesting...It always seems that finding an Albino N. Notopterus is easier than finding an Albino CK, unless you're talking about a Golden CK, which are pretty common.

Years ago I worked in a large chain pet store and I seem to remember we had them all the time. But unfortunately the LFS where I live now is um...crap? Yeah thats the word.
