When fish that are notorious for fin nipping such as tiger barbs and Buenos Aires tetras is the nipping mostly co specific or would they be a bad option for a heckellii?

I find a lot depends on tank size and school size. When I had 10 tiger barbs, they pretty much punked everything in sight, but when I increased the side of the school to 22-24 they behaved a lot differently. Most of the aggression was kept within the school.
Serpaes? No hope imo. Basically useless.......other than expensive feeders
