So I just bought a 30" 2x24W Nova Extreme T5 light for my 29gal tank (is that a lot of light? I'm afraid it might be without CO2)... But anyways, I assume I won't be able to keep my original black hood with this light anymore, right? Should I not have any top at all? Should I get a glass top? Acrylic? Build one?

Any input is appreciated!

I'd go with glass, acrylic tops will bend and warp..

I'm about to order that same light & I'll be switching to a glass top. I wanted to keep the black hood, but...

I decided to go without a top and I really liked it. But yesterday i had my first jumper. So, I will probably get one of those Versa-Top all glass covers with my next order from DrsFS.

They have two types, one is called "twin tube" - that's the one you want as it has a wider glass in the back than in the front and thus won't break up your light as much. At least that's what I learned from Aqueon's description of it.
