I am thinking about getting these lights, but I'm not sure if I should get the fresh or salt. It is for a freshwater tank, and I want it mainly to bring out the colors of my pbass. I need your input on whether the saltwater or freshwater fixture would be best for bringing out the colors.

The saltwater fixture comes with one 460nm T5HO and one 10,000K T5HO.

The freshwater comes with one 10,000K T5HO and one Freshwater T5HO.

What are your thoughts? Or is there something better for equal or less price? Thanks.

It is for a 125, and I am looking at getting 2 of the 36". Thanks for the link. The 36" are $10 cheaper on drsfostersmith.

Edit: I think the ones you posted are a different model.

No reason to go with anything more powerful or expensive then. The color of the bulbs is more of a personal preference at this point. Try one set of bulbs this round and when you replace them try a different combination till you find one you like.

They're cheapest on ebay.

I would replace the freshwater bulb with power-glo or something similar. Actinics are too blue IMO.

Your fish will look better with brighter lights, but you might end up with a lot of algae. Having a nice T5 fixture is useful for taking good pictures as well.
You might as well put some java ferns or similar in the tank with that much light, they will grow fine.

Thanks for the input. I may want to try plants sometime. My tank is pretty simple right now, and plants would probably look good in it.
