NOVUS compound in tank!?

i just sanded and buffed down my 180 yesterday. i want to set it up by this weekend. and prolly use cycle to speed up the cycling. but im worrying about all the chemcials i used. i used novus 2 on the inside and outside of the tank. and i used novus 3 on the outsides of the tank. im wondering if the novus is toxic to the fish? im pretty sure it is but my big questions is. WHATS THE BEST WAY TO GET RID OF THE NOVUS IN THE TANK.

a good wipe down using a wet rag and some rubbing alcohol? and i'd let the tank cycle longer just because of the chemicals.
 
u sure? i dont want no dead fish. i was thinkn about letting wiping it down and then letting it sit in some water for a day. sound good anyone?
 
I've used Novus for other plastics and dish soap and lots of water cleaned it up.

Rinsing is the key here. Hope you can take it outside and use a hose.

Make sure you do the outside too.

I used Novus on my 300gal (inside the tank) when we moved to the new house. I rinse the walls of the tank where I used the Novus about 3-4 times, filled the tank fully 2-3 times added the UGJ and about 300bls of PFS. Dumped in 2 convicts for about 2 weeks, did 75% water changes each week. On the third week I figured the tank was fine and added a few of the smaller fish fire mouth, Chocolate Cichlids, another pair of convicts, pike a few each every other day or so to make sure the chemicals I used were completely gone and prevet a mini cycle. Added the silver dollars and the rest of the fish. After about 7-9 days I finally added my pride a joy, at the time he was 22 inches, Black Aro that I raised since it was about 2.5 inches. Added the 12 in Midas last. Tank has been running in the new house about 10-11 months now and int he last housee it was up about 15-16 months. Now losses except for the 1 Convict the Midas decided needed to hide in his mouth. :drool:
