Now is this a syn?

I hate to be the guy that says "hybrid" everytime someone posts vieja juvies, but I have some doubts about this fish. I'm looking at the spots on its side & thinking it looks alot like the juvie you posted that most people thought BB or BBxsyn. I see alot more syn characteristics in this fish, but those spots on the flank give me doubts.
Are all these "syns" in the same tank at your LFS? Have you asked the LFS where it got its stock from? Its possible that they bought a batch of BBxsyn fry from a local hobbyist...just thinking about possibilities here.
Anyways, I think a BBxsyn would make a pretty badass hybrid. Grow it out and see what you get.

I agree - there's way too much randomness out there to visually verify the identity of juvenile Paratheraps.

Clearly I'm just missing "the DNA vision" that the animal guy has to be able to conclusively identify pictures of "pure" specimens of Paratheraps from hybrids or other similar species
While not 100%, provenance (i.e. a record of the source of fish) can provide a lot more certainty than the "that looks like a syn" BS on most of these threads.

Thanks for all of the comments everyone! I believe it's a syn, if a hybrid, closer to a syn 
the pic was taken right after I put it into the tank, it looks a lot more like a syn now that it's settled down pics later
