Put about 4lb of sand in a bucket, stick it under the tap and run the tap stirring the sand up so that the dust runs off. You'll need to leave the tap running on a bucket, and stirring intermediatly for around 20 minutes per bucket. Once your happy the water is running clear you can add it to the tank. Dont bother running any filters untill youve added all the sand. Be awaire that sand and HOB's really dont mix as someone pointed out that the impellars are on the unfiltered side of the water so are suceptable to damage if they pick up sand.
