Hey Everybody,

I havent been in the freshwater section in about a 2 years until last week about discus and such. Well now i have my 50 gallon set up that I dosed with "Seachem Stability" for the 7 days. I currently have 2 kissing gouramis, 4 sail fin mollies and one 4 day old sailfin molly :) any tips on how to keep it alive?

Well back to my question, does this mean my tank is ready for new fish (Talken about after the dose of stability) because I'm confused now as this may have altered the normal "Cycling Methods"...I've viewed a thread about stabilty but cant find it :(

Thanks A Million

i would let these fish settle in for another week or two to let the filter get a better stock of bb and then after that slowly add more fish until you feel like it is properly stocked but to keep your young molly alive i would just crush up some flakes or feed it baby brine shrimp and hope that the larger fish dont eat it lol

Hey thanks for the info, the baby molly is in a breeder net about 6 inches by 4inches by 4 inches...lots of space for the fact that the baby is only 1/3 of an inch lol. I finely crushed flakes...looks like he bites it then spits it out. However i believe he is eating because it's been approximatly 4-5 days. The little guys is very active lol, hope it pulls through...his 10 other siblings perished the seacond they were born...dont know why.

Also Like you said in a week or 2 I'll test the water and see if it has cycled...thanks lol for replying at 4 am ;)

i'd say for the molly baby, daphnia and the crushed fish flakes have raised my molly fry successfully; i also use the frozen foods like emerald entree and they have no problem with picking at frozen foods as they get older; the entree has tons of tiny ingredients in it that make it easy-enough for them. my week&a half old guppy babies eat pretty much anything i put in there, but i make sure it's small enough for them but they almost always find a way. hardy little guys. hopefully he'll be fine & grow fast, mollies are so sturdy. ♥ i'd also say let everyone settle in more before you can be sure the tank's ready for new fish [unless they're known for being hardy they should be fine]; & i'm not sure if you already have discus or not yet or were just curious about them, but they're notoriously sensitive so if you were planning on them, i'm sure it'd be safest to rely on patience & wait to make sure everything's stable as possible :] oh, &i'm not sure about stability altering anything really since it seems to mostly have good results, but just giving the tank a month or two with good care should yield lovely results regardless :>

Hey thanks for the info mother lol,

I was thinking about the discus, but Id rather wait to build up needed knowlege.
Yeah this little guy is very hardy and think he'll pull through.

i am sure that you will be able to keep discuss in your tank they are more hardy than most people give them credit for but go to the discuss forum and ask plenty of questions, that is what i do when i want to learn more about a fish i am looking at getting
