It appears some of my fish are starting to develop white spots of ich. Fish infected are silver dollars, convict, and Nicaragua cichlid. I've got my temperature up to about 83 and rising, did a couple water changes, heavily salted. Was thinking of picking up Nox-ich and medicating them. I heard it's basically just a concentrated salt solution. So would it be bad to add nox-ich on top of the salt? Would it help?

Although the main ingredient is a sodium chloride solution, it is the malachite green that is the key ingredient that stops ich, it is an anti parasitic/anti bacterial/anti fungal dye. However that ingredient is very potent, and it only takes a very small amount of that ingredient to do the job.

Thanks duanes, so would you recommend me to use the suggested dosage even tho there's already aquarium salt in my tank? Our half dosage?

When I use salt for ich, I use a salinity meter to gradually bring the salinity up to 3ppt (parts per thousand) and I believe that is higher than most normal publications recommend. But that is the magic ich kill solution for me. It still takes a good 2 to 3 weeks to work, because all ich cysts need to emerge from dormancy, and that does not happen over night. I have used Nox Ich and salt together, but the fish I used it on are very salt tolerant Central Americans. The con and nic should probably do fine, but I cannot speak to any others.
