As title,I noticed my biggest NTT 10"+ has sprouted couple of zits above his right eye, bearing in mind my stock in the tank, how do I treat it,what causes it and will it pass on to my others.

Steve

Anybody?

I had a similar problem in the past Steve with my big NTT. Grew on its side near the gill plate.

I ended up lancing/aspirating the lesion with a sterile hypodermic needle. Worked a treat and its never come back

Mine NTT has it sometimes. It will go away with water changes and salt.

Is this one that's been moved into the new tank yet?
I've found stress etc brings this on and as above, a good water change and some salt & they will soon clear up.

Thanks for the replies guys, hes around 10.5 "to 11" now rob:naughty:i put him into the 6ft tank and it sprouted in there but ive put him in the 350 and it seems like its got a lot better so il keep my eye on it,its just above and behind his eye,can only just see it now, just got a few fish in there to move things along andy.

Hi Steve.
I believe this is a viral infection that flares up from time to time, seen it before with Datnioides, especially Undecimradiatus(thin bars),the salt will help settle it down but it never seems to go completely, raises its ugly head during times of stress.
Cracking looking specimen.
All the best mate.

Cheers Richard for the info, will the salt affect my bichirs or anything at all and how much should I put in,but it does look loads better since he went in the 350
