My NTT hides most of the day. It eats a lot and it is at least twice the size of when i bought it. I feed it ghost shrimp which are easy to get here and cheap. I put a load of them in the tank about once a week (live of coursed).
At the start the NTT has no trouble getting them but towards the end of the week when there aren't that many left they stay at the opposite end of the tank than the NTT.(my RTG picks em off as well).
At night i have a little light going into the tank but not a lot. My NTT often comes out after lights out, but i was wondering can Dats see well in the dark? Well enough to hunt.
Cheers

How big is it compared to the rtg?
And what other tankmates?
My 3new 2.5" NTT come out loads more now ive put some large emperor tetras in(nearly as big as the tigers),but my 6" 3bar it was eventually killed after being too much of a smart arse with an aro 3 times its size.

Well my 10 NTT are usually in the dark, they are on a reverse lighting since they are growing out in my sump. I think those huge eyes on dats are for nocturnal hunting. The also seem more relaxed now that they been living for a couple months in the sump with the overflow and filter sock making noise and such. They are almost always stable when I go to feed them, and don't seem any worse for wear in the absence of light. The dats are 4-5" and are the only fish in the sump.

NTT is about 6inchs and the RTG is about 18inches.
The RTG gives it a nip now and again and the Dat charges back but that's it. There are 6 4in CLs as well.

^ I've had it about 6 m0nths. It either eats frozen blood worms which get put in in the morning for my CLs or it eats the ghost shrimp which are in the tank.
