hi, im new here and would like to ask a few questions.
i recently acquire a thin bar datnoid(about 1.5 inch) a week ago, put it in a 75 gals tank put some feeder fish(guppies) for him to eat but up to now he just ignore it, even the pellets and beef heart and mp just wont touch the food, hes just in hes hiding place
but my frontosa(2inches) hes tank mate is eating beef heart. whats wrong w/ my datnoid, will he last that long w/out taking some foods?
thank you.

It took my dat awhile to get used to its tank and it wouldnt eat for awhile and it would hide ALOT now its used to its tank and it comes out alot. It still a picky eater though it only eats ghost shrimp. Anywho from my experience it takes awhile with them to get used to things. I am also moving this to the proper section, as dat's are not cichlids...

Yes...dats can be funny. I had a bunch of small thinbars in one tank....they were so scared that they all hid. It took me about 3 weeks to get them to start taking krill. Once they start eating, they eventually get bolder and are out a lot more. Like everyone else said, give the dat some time. You may even want to get a couple more as the small ones, in my experience, seem to feel more comfortable in groups.
