ok so I am looking for current owners with nu-clear canister filters. I have a 150 I am looking to change around at the moment and basically thinking of either 1 or 2 FX 5's with a Wet/Dry. However I want to stick this all under the cabinent and have some heavy duty stuff and the tank itself is a 150 Tall so a 150 tall does not provide much room to fiddle width wise but plenty of room for canister filters. But there is a particular canister that has stackable extra's and I am not sure if I can purchase these with my tank..
So I am looking to nu-clear filters. Several of them. They have a model 533 (25 micron) and a 530 which is a 25 micron extension that fits on top. Likewise they have units that are 100 micron units and bioball units with aditional units that stack. What I am wondering is if anyone here on the forum has one of these units with an extension.. And how much room it takes with the lid on top. I am wondering how much room it takes to get one out of under the cabinent essentially if take off the top lid (after drain) and then try to pull it out for cleaning. Basically do not want to put it in there and have it stuck between the tank top and the floorboard so trying to figure dimmensions before considering any sort of orders. Basically looking to see if someone can give me the clearance dimmensions I need to safely take them apart stacked. With the pump (dont mind suggestions on that dont want something noisy but want something with good gph that wont loose pressure), canisters and UV sterilizer there goes like $1300 owies.
Also trying to get opinions on how well these do on filtration. I am figuring on a 1300-1500 GPH pump with a UV sterilizer tied in. I am figuring on extending these into a 220-260G range in probably a year or 2 time so that is one reason I am purchasing them.
