Hello MFK peeps - I'm new to the site and wanted to see if you could help me out.

I was looking for a fairly large used tank setup and found a great deal and purchased a 115g and 55g full both fully set up and it came with a flowerhorn. The fish is very good looking and I'm getting closer to it each day. Before I got the guy, I knew nothing about him but while trolling the internet, I found many useful pointers and tips to keep him happy. I also found out that some of these aren't cheap.

So I asked the guy who I got it from how old the fish was, where he got it from and how much he paid. He said the fish was a few months old (it's now 3.5 months old - 6-7inches), he got it from Thailand and that he paid $1,500 for it. My heart almost stopped!!

Anyways, I was wondering if you could help me out and tell me what kind of Flowerhorn I have so when I have company and talk to other fish keepers, and if it's M/F so I could make it seem like I know what I'm talking about. Picture is attached.

Many thanks for your help.

wellcome! Very good looking bull FH.

Wait for the experts. I would say it is some sort of Kamfa, but am most certainly wrong on this.:)

Thanks. I actually sold the fish for $1,000. I didn't want to have the responsibility of taking care of such an expensive fish. I'm still new to the hobby and I don't want that hanging over my head. I'll pick up a cheap flowerhorn and raise it myself.

Actually, I'm laughing all the way to the bank.

hahaha.....
