im not breeding anything right now per say but i'm curious about convicts and what would happen if you just left them alone? say you pick up a couple, stick them in a decent tank, they pair off, ect. ect. and then you just let nature take its course? who ever gets killed, eaten whatever doesn't make it and the strong ones survive generation after generation. with all the males competing against each other for the same females that are readily available, will they begin to develop nuchal humps? i've seen convicts with them before, never too impressive but definitely present, do you think that this method of darwinism i guess for lack of a better description would cause this to accentuate the trait in the more dominate males?

Only if only the males with the bigger nuchal hump survived but also they would begin to start inbreeding and after so long the eggs wouldn't even be alive anymore which is sterile parents

well granted, but starting with a small colony should help, maybe a couple different breeding pairs to contribute. i was just wondering if they would develop, weather or not the dominate trait was there if the circumstances called for it like in a competitive breeding scenario
