I remember reading somewhere that supposedly keeping your ph a little higher than normal for a RD or FH will cause the males to develop a more prominent Nuchal Hump? Can anyone attest to this? Or is this simple insanity?

I have read this somewhere on this forum too.

I have no experience with high ph causing larger humps but i have had experience with the opposite happening
I keep a variety of amphilophus species in a tank of quite low ph, around 6-6.5 ish. I must say that my fish are very slow to develop their humps. Usually my Citrinelum can achieve a length of 7-8" before they even start to show any signs of a hump. I also have some cons around the 6" mark that also have no humps. So maybe there is some truth in it and ph does affect the humps.

pH of cemtral American water is alwas high, 7.5-8.5, keeping these species in low pH is not natural, no wonder they don't show any sexual dimorphism. Ken
