Hey everyone,
I was interested in getting a few synodontis decorus in my new 200 gallon. A lot of the pictures I see them in has them in groups of 2 or more. But I am not sure if they get more aggressive when they get larger like it says for S. angelicus. I have several S. petricola and they get along just fine with larger africans in an 80 gallon. What do you all think? Anyone have any experience with this species?

Thanks
Chris

I have a decorus currently with synodontis multipunctatus and geophagus cichlids. The decorus like most synodontis species will do alot better in groups than individuals. I'm not sure as to the aggression at a larger size but I have found it to be peacefull like the multipunctatus which are very passive. The synodontis flavitaeniatus is more like the angelicus as far as aggression and at the size I used to keep the flavitaeniatus which is the same size as my decorus they were already showing alot more aggression. Are you worried about your decorus bullying the african cichlids or just general aggression? ~Trent

I was mostly worried that the synos might kill each other. I heard that angelicus is pretty aggro so they should be kept one to a tank and maybe even one syno to a tank. I did get one decorus so far and its is going quite well. It leaves the other fish alone pretty much and even gets a little pushed around by the royal pleco. Could I get more decorus cats or maybe a different kind like s. petricola or s. granulosus?
