Totally possible. It's based on hormones and good nutrition. One of my monos totally swole up at about 7.5 inches. Congrats on the quality of care, your lil' guy's growing up fast!

Cichla become sexually mature at a year old. How old is he? It could also be the duck face nature of that species of kelberi.
