Nutrafin Max sinking krill and shrimp pellets?

Anyone feed "Nutrafin Max Sinking pellets with krill and shrimp meal?"

The pellets are really, really, really hard, and if I soak them for long enough that they aren't, then the bichirs shred them and spit half of it out and leave it for the snails. I'm a little worried about the bichirs choking if I just throw the food in there without soaking.

Should I switch to something else? My bichirs are 6-7", what do you guys recommend?

As far as prepared foods go, I use HBH SuperSoft Krill formula and New Life Spectrum large fish formula. The NLS is hard but the bichirs don't seem to mind, they just swallow it whole. I use the 3mm size of both. They lo-o-ove cut up earthworm.
