I have had my silver arrowana for nearly 3 years, I have fed him mice on a regular basis, goldfish, trout, bass, and earthworms, I recently fed him a duckling. All of these seem like food that an arrowana might cross paths with in the wild. I have not had any problems with him not eating other than pellet food, he will not have anything to do with any that i have tried. The previous owner fed him worms, convicts, and goldfish his whole life, he got him at about 5" when i got him he was 20". Any thoughts on the nutritional value of mice, ducks, worms, and various other living creatures. I would guess that the mice and ducks are low in fat, the gold fish(which he eats most of the time) may not be the best choice as i read in another thread due to a high fat content, but that was talking about marine fish, would the same apply to a freshwater fish, is high fat content food harmful? I think too much of one food could be a problem so i break it up i feed him fish for about two weeks, then a mouse, or bird or something. Let me know what you think.

try silvers and shrimp everyone i know feeds loads of shrimp

There's a category on here specifically for arowanas.

Here's an article on care of silvers, and there's a pretty long section on feeding:

Feeding primarily fish really wouldn't be the best diet unless you're heavily gutloading them.

I wouldn't feed him birds. If you somehow have baby birds (as in very young ones that haven't developed feathers yet) you can feed that might be ok, but I wouldn't feed adults with all the feathers and hard beaks. That will be pretty hard to digest.
Mice, again, if you can feed pinkies that might be ok. I wouldn't feed adult mice personally.
Either of those things should be fed rarely.

The best thing would be to get him on primarily pellets and feed other stuff along with that. That article above lists a lot of suggestions.

gold fish are very bad frogs are good, shrimp krill silver sides and other thing like worms no gold fish!
