does anyone know where i would find this information .

im also interested in the nutritional values of guppys, mollys and the frozen lancefish you can buy .

im sure the research has been done but im not sure where to find it .

many thanks.

All I know is massivore delight claims to be = to 1.8 goldfish. Which means my baby RTC would be eating 100's every week.

I like Hikari Krill, I feel it is the best krill and the krill itself have way more nutrition then a minnow. When I look at a minnow I dont see much meat, mostly bones and guts. Krill is all meat.

I dont think there is any benefit from live food

Yeah, that's why God's little helpers go out and sprinkle Hikari pellets in every natural body of water three times a day :wall:

If that were true, predatory fish wouldn't exist.

There are benefits. Like already mentioned, it just depends on the prey items health.

Depends on the type of minnow you would be using...The fathead,I think is just as poor as goldfish as far as nutrition.

I think he was talking about the feeders who are bred by the millions who live in disease filled waters and are not properly taken care of. If you raise your feeder fish and take just as good care of them as you do your other fish, there shouldn't be as much of an issue. I personally wouldn't feed my fish feeders. I have seen a lot of bad things happen to fish who ate to many feeders.

tbh . i never mentioned feeders or feeding live food.

how do you think hikari know the nutritional value of one goldfish ?

and just because they asked what it was , does that mean that they are feeding live goldfish or using feeders or anything else .

i just wanted to know if anyone knew where i could find out the nutritional value of a standard wild minnow. but tbh any minnow would do.

that said. pointing out that the hikari is = to x amount of goldfish is quite helpfull in itself.

so . does anyone know where i can find the nutritional value of a minnow ?

I hear this topic come up often about minnows and gold fish not being health for fish, and granted a fish food like Massivore has suppplments that enhance the fish health and color I'd assume, but has anyone actually had issuse they could prove was the fault of goldfish or minnows killing their fish? I only ask because I have been rasing fish for many years ( probably more than 75 % of people on here) and have even breed a few dfferent species in my time and have never had an issue with bait store minnows or pet store goldfish. In fact I have run across some of those fish that would only eat live feeders and grew to great sizes and live for years this way. So where does the idea that they are not health or have no benefit for your predatory fish come into play? After all, it is natures way for recycling itself.... Some one school me on proof of this nutritional value or lack of should I say, as well.
Now just for the record, I do feed fish food because I believe it has some vitamins effects, plus it cheaper than buying feeders every few days....
