I hate that it is coming to this. For 5 1/2 years I had a community of cichlids that co-existed well, with my jag as the king of the tank. a little chase or nip on occasion but nothing that was damaging to the other fish.

Over the last year or so, after losing one of the silver dollars in the tank, the cascade effect of that same aggression being focused on less fish, has meant each get harrassed a little bit more....first it was the other silver dollar, later my jack dempsey. the remaining green terror and banded leporinus are both struggling. The green terror is in bad enough shape currently that he may need to be euthenised. The managuense just relentlessly bothers them even though they are always at the far end of the tank from his "territory".

Ive tried adding additional fish to split the jag's attention, I rearrange the decorations every couple of weeks, and I even spread the gravel back to areas the jag cleared it from so the jag would be busy reclearing the area.

So Im trying to find another NYC or nassau area MFK member who may have the right tank for a 10" managuense (now approx 6yo). Its a georgeous fish, healthy as can be, currently showing the best colors it ever has, and i'm not looking for money(although I'd accept a fish trade possibly), just a good home. Im in Flushing Queens.

I believe so, from what I've read on the subject. That is a picture of the actual fish if anyone else knows how to sex a jag.

W hats your location,as I have lots of tanks and a few of the same fish I have a pair in a 500g

Is there no one one nnyc who would want a 10" managuense?

The "attention" he's giving my green terror seems to be mating related. He's been swimming up, doing his dance and when he doesn't get a response, then tries to bite the gt. He's cleared a big area of the tank of gravel, and even moved a decent sized flower pot.

I can't afford to get more full sized aggressive fish to be tank mates, so he's going to have to go. Otherwise it'll go to my LFS.
