The visibility of distilled water is about 80 metres. Blue Lake, in New Zealand's South Island, clocks in at 76 metres. Here are the first-ever photos of this newly discovered natural wonder, taken by Klaus Thymann of Project Pressure and supported by New Zealand Department of Conservation and New Zealand Tourism.

Earlier this year I visited Pupu Springs while on holiday in the South Island, thinking I was seeing the clearest water on the planed second only subglacial water in the Antarctic. Looks like I'll have to go for another holiday! Now, how can I rig up my sump to filter the water through a few tons of glacial debris....

That is a pretty nice sight. Of course I saw the second pic and wondered about how that driftwood would look in a tank. ;)

That's amazing.

I swam in a crazy clear lake once (obviously not that clear) and it was awesome because you could see trout everywhere.

Then of course there's Lake Tahoe and crater lake which were both incredibly clear.

Crater lake was actually really creepy

My lake is very clear right after the ice melts. Not sure how but the fresh mix of water I guess mixes it in and clears up the muddy water. But for the remainder of the year other than for that week or two its cloudy. U can see all the fish and turtles straight through clearly. Its awesome. This would be awesome to see in person though

Crater Lake is the US' clearest lake, it is more than a little odd there though.

Wow, that's amazing. Some subalpine lakes here are pretty clear on a sunny day but not even close to that.

Thats pretty amazing... lets just hope that people don't go and destroy it now that its been advertised...

Wow, that is some clear water! I have been to a couple of exceptionally clear lakes here in Oregon - Crater Lake has up to 40M visibility and Clear Lake has up to 60M - but that is incredible....
