Picked up a pair. Asked a few people locally that were going to the legs if they had any and they said no. I show up to get some pellets and they are there. Had them a few weeks also. Lol... Never trust anyone to look for you.

Man! I wanna be wrong but that's no Oxydoras. That fish is from the Hassar genus or some such... aka Mouse catfish or Mouse black-top catfish, etc. https://www.planetcatfish.com/common/genus.php?genus_id=25#39

The last 4" nigers I got looked like this. In terms of color/pattern. I am going to have to net up and get a close look. I didnt look at the fish too closely. They were labeled as Turushuki Catfish. That is another name for nigers. This lfs always has the Turushuki Catfish in and I have always seen the nigers. Never the mouse catfish. So I didnt even look close. The one guy moved the sponge and they scattered like roaches. The glances I took I said "the 2 biggest". Then continued talking to the owner as the worker bagged up the fish.
Idk how I feel if they do turn out to be the mouse cats point closer inspection. I like almost any cat but Idk if I have a tank for small cats. The smallest/general size of the cats I am planing to keep is 2'. I have a tig, achara, these 2 and just impulse bought a nice looking jurunese tonight..lol... Plan to have an Irwani and a few others.

The color matters but not primarily.
On Hassar, the snout is longer, the barbels shaped differently, the eyes are bigger, the dorsal is bigger, the adipose is smaller, and so on.
I think you'll see it when you study the photos.

I don't remember my baby niger looking like these...but that was about 27 years ago, my memory most likely has faded since then.
If I remembered anything that was 27 years ago, I'd envy myself
