Benefits?

Differences from Ozone reactors?

I tried to do some searches for them, but all I come up with is Calcium Reactors and CO2 reactors.. I would LOVE to get some information on the benefits on an OXYGEN REACTOR.

Try looking up oxygen generators instead. These rigs separate components in air and concentrate O2 (up to 95%). They require compressed air at the inlet of 90psi (some have built-in compressors). Compressed storage tanks are a benefit so the generator isn't on all the time. These units are used to boost ozone generators with a constant supply of dry O2. They differ from ozone in that there is no ionization of the O2 molecules. Check out the Workhorse and Teamwork units at aquaticeco.com.
For a less expensive alternative to providing O2 to your setups, checkout the benefits of oxygen cones (also at aquaticeco). Cones take up more physical space but, cost only pennies compared to generators.

I knew you would be the only one to reply ;)

Thanks for your input!

I was just curious of what exactly the O2 reactor does, as I have one on my new fish system.. I believe their is a generator pushing the compressed air at the inlet, however from memory I seem to remember that the water was passed through the chiller before-hand. Chillers don't provide pressure do they? I thought they were just a flow through.. I will investigate further.

Anyways, that is some great information you have there, and it really helps... Some other 'friends' of mine have O2 reactors that are not functioning, and you can tell.

So an O2 reactor, in combination with a fluidized bed, provide ideal conditions for nitrifying bacteria to grow prolifically..? But with the lack of the O2 reactor, the fluidized bed isn't going to reach it's potential, correct?

A well utilized fluidized bed can break down wastes with the 2 basic nitrifying bacterias, but can it also provide any sort of other bacterias or breakdown methods that I should be aware of? I am trying to educate myself as much as possible with some of these more 'advanced' filtration methods often seen in larger public fish systems.. ;)

Also, there was a great article about the myths and benefits of Carbon, but I can search for it myself.. If you have any links on-hand Oddball, let me know..
