Hey everyone, I know there are a lot of Aquarium hobbyists out there that frown upon hybrids and I'm sorry if this thread offends you.

I was looking through the media section here and came across the most beautiful fish I have ever seen...the OB Peacock hybrid!!

I was wondering how one would go about getting this wonderful fish. What 2 fish were needed during breeding? What size tank? Plants? Driftwood? Ect.

If anybody has ANY information on this please let me know!

It's a secret of the trade, or just accidental mix in one pond or tank. Hybrid peacocks are pretty popular so go for it, just pick the ones you like. Requirements are the same as for the other Malawis.

Wow thanks, I guess I've never seen them around Ohio which is a bummer because I would have picked them up a loooong time ago if i knew how fantastic they looked.

How hard are they to breed?

Care of OB Peacocks is pretty much the same as other peacocks.

They do great on flake and pellets, lots of water changes and hard, alkaline water.

Breeding them will occur naturally if you keep a single male with a group of females.

Yep, Dave is a good guy too. He'll set you up. I was please with the quality of fish I received from him. He is actually a vendor/member on here.

dogofwar nailed it on the keeping. They are pretty straight forward.

Fantastic. 2 more questions. What size tank do you guys suggest for about 1 male and 3-4 females?
Would a 55 be fine?

How big do these get when full grown? I still am unclear about their growth potential and don't want to overstock.

They grow to about 5" or so. A small group would do OK in a 30 long.

OK awesome, thanks everyone.
