Dear hobbyist,

I really needed help on this. As title, what is the obvious way to identify FATF from the others. I've read chix thread numerous time and yet still unable to identify it.

Please share your experience and thought.

Even better if you could upload a definite picture of a FATF.

Many many thanks !!

FATF is the middle fish. The top is a VATF.

Obvious differences:

1. Pronounced underbite.

2. Adipose fin that is grey or blueish without hint of black.

3. Slender body.

4. Color on the lower part of tail lobe - VATF has coloration on top and bottom part.

5. Silverish white body without hint of gold/bronze found on VATF.

Hope this helps. :)

thank you so much! It's easy to differentiate when they are matured. But when they are 3-4 inches especially when vatf haven't develop color on the upper lobe, it's very hard to differentiate them. About the underbite, I'm not sure because I saw some other species of ATF having underbite too.

I'll try to get a pic of my VATF for comparison, it's about 10 cm long (4").
Alas, I don't own a FATF!

He's pretty damn fast and torpedoes into the current, so I can't promise it'll come today xD

Edit: I owe Red a pic anyway, since he's responsible for me having one ;P

So the top and the bottom ones in this pic are FATFs. The 2nd one is a GATF and the 3rd one is a VATF :). Hope this helps.
