I fully believe in having a career or job in something your are passionate about doing . My questions to my fellow Mfk members besides breeding fish and sell them and working in the lfs or owning your own , do anybody up here have a job in some type of aquatic field and do you make a decent living at it and what is the job? Also if anybody knows of different types of job in the aquatic world please feel free to put in your input

A friend of my Dad, has always been into fish, so he became a Biologist of some sort, that is related to aquatic animals (namely fish). I believe he does research and also has written a book or two.

That's my plan. Right now, I'm still in college, but I'm working on a field biology degree. I plan to do fish research, possibly for another university

Are you at OSU?

As for the original question, there are a ton of various jobs relating to aquatic life, what aspect do you like the most?
Pay range is HUGE depending on what you do and who you do it for.

Nope, ONU, Ohio Northern U. I looked into OSU, and even took an aquatic bio class there a few years ago, but I got a bigger scholarship from ONU. I originally started in bio. education, but switched to field bio. (basically a general BS in biology, but with a lot of field classes and training)

i mean i am into fish and animals in general they study and keeping and breeding of them

I'm following this thread 'cause I'd like to know also. My GF hasn't quite found her niche in life yet but loves taking good care of our animals.

Typically these jobs do not pay very well and are difficult to get your foot in the door. I would suggest you become a physician instead if you like the biology field.

I am starting college in the spring at 31 years old, and majoring in biology with an emphasis on aquatic biology. I figure I could be anything from a field biologist to working at a large aquarium. There are lots of possibilities for employment IMO.
