Thought on using Ocean clear canister for a 1000 gallon aquarium and which model.

Good point!

I did some research before buying my NuClear canisters. I think that they have a better closure than the Ocean Clear filters, plus they are stackable (like inkslinger mentioned).

For a thousand gallon tank I would use two stacked 100 micron cartridges followed by two stacked 25 micron cartridges. You could also add some biological filtration in a third unit, but I think a sump would probably be better.

Was thinking of adding this inline filter after my sump but my pumps rating is 1800 GPH and it says up to 1600 GPH. Would my pump be too strong or can work?

IMO: You have a flow pump use for a sump or wet-dry . Flow Pump are use to pull water threw a sump or wet-dry. Where as these canister filters you would need some kind of Pressure Pump too push {force} water threw the pleated filter.
You should be ok but when the filter gets dirty you are creating a back pressure to your pump. The company Inland Seas says that a Mag 9 and up can be use .
But I think that a pressure would be best. I'm using a Blue Line 55 HD 1100gph Pump but have heard others having good filteration with a Iwaki WMD-40RLT Pump with the Nu-Clear and Ocean Clear filters.

You should be ok with the high flow.

Thanks for the info. I'm adding some filter socks and on top of that was thinking of getting this filter also. Love fact that it will tell me about when it's time to clean the filter. Also since my socks are only 200 microns.
