ocell turning black/dark grey

just like the thread by johnptc, i have a smaller bass with the same problem..... ive seen my other bass turn darker before but this guy has been like this for maybe like 9 days.. wondering if he'll change back, or if he'll be fine..........i know the other bass just changed back to normal, think this is the same thing?

Reminds me of a xanthic Amphilophus sp. like Sagittae or Xiloaensis where the get the black markings coming and going periodically. The black lips are nice though...a gothic Cichla.

from the way it looks on the second picture, he is getting bullied, and im thinking those black markings are from wounds.

maybe its being bullied ive seen them hit each other before
