how old/big does a pair need to be before they can start laying eggs?

what are some breeding triggers to get them to lay eggs?

im goign to buy a pair, but duno how big they are, and dunno if they have spawned before.

if i have a pair going in the tank, would it be okay to buy a pair of onyx clownfish to go along in the tank? would there be aggression?
its a 60 gallon tank.

where can i find a pair of onyx clownfish? and do they breed as often/easily as ocellaris?

Usually clownfish aren't sold as a "pair" unless they've mated before. Once they get accustomed to your tank, they should breed fairly regularly (if your parameters are good). As for the onyx clowns, Im not 100% if there would be aggression or not, but I think you could get away with it. The only thing I could forsee is if one pair breeds, they may be overly aggressive toward the other pair while protecting their eggs. Personally, I would only go with the Ocellaris OR the Onyx. There are several other types of really cool fish you could put in there rather than clowns.

Once clowns breed, they get very territorial. I'd say stick with one pair. Stable water chemistry is a must. Once they are happy, you'll see breeding.

tuff thing to accomplish but it is totally worth it

i thought clowns were like the convicts of saltwater.

Not really...breeding clowns is tough business...your water has to be pristine, and alot of subtle changes can ruin things...You also have to look out for other fish in the tank eating the eggs. I've never bred them, but I have researched it, and it is also necessary to isolate the fry from the tank once they have hatched. Its worth a try, but I opted out because I have a pretty big workload from my other tanks. Good luck if you try it out!!
