Hi everyone. Im setting up my first saltwater tank. I have a 75gal. with a corner overflow, with a ocianic 150 wet/dry system. It has the built in protien skimmer. My question is how good of a skimmer is this? Would I be better off buying another skimmer or is this one sufficiant? I want to have a reef tank, and I have no experince. So im tying to decide what to use. I aso have a tidalpool 2 wet/dry that could use. The ocianic is rated for up to 150 gal, and the tidelpool is rated for 120 gal. Wich would be a better set-up. The tidelpool has the pullout drawers with the bio-wheel. I would have to buy a skimmer if I were to use the tidelpool. But I was wondering wich is the better set up. I was thinking of running 2 75 gal. tanks through the ocianic 150, and having two saltwater set-ups. I was wondering if I could have a reef tank in the one and just fish in the other? Would this combo work out? Or are the water conditions completely differant between a reef tank, and a fish only tank. I know you need more calcium, but woudnt the fish only tank be all rght running on the same wet/dry as the reef tank as long as the wet/dry was large enough??? I have several tanks, thats why Im asking, I cant afford live rock for more then 1 tank. And I thought it would be nice if I could run everything off 1 wet/dry and have all the filtrationin the basement. I have everything including a hhpond pump 3000 gph 20ft. would I be able to run the 2 tanks through 1 filtration with the protien skimmer on the ocianic 150????Thanks for all the help and sorry for all the questions.
