Hey all i was hoping someone could answer tgis queation for me. My orb ray seems to swim or bob on one part of the side of the tank, namely the back. It was relatively uncommon but has increased lately. I checked my water and pH is 7.0 ammonia is 0 nitrite is 0 and trates are around 30 ppm. Other than this odd behacvior he seems fine, eats like a champ and when he does cruise along the bottom he seems to do so with ease. I do have a fine gravel mixed with a large one but the larger pieces are very smooth. My filtration is an older pro clear wetdry, not sure on the model but it's normally rated for a 150-200gal. I'm running purigen, carbon, and bonded poly fiber pads along with a mag 12 as a return, i do have it dialed down a bit. Temp is 76. Any ideas are appreciated.

Sorry for spelling errors!

Forgot to mention, tank size is 48"x24"x16". I have a 30" strip on it as far as light so i doubt its too much. There is an upgrade in the works but the deep dimension 300 is a bit small in footprint for me so trying to find something a little longer...8x3x2-ish.

by bobbing do you mean just swimming up and down the glass? thats normal ray behavior if we're on the same track.

Very normal my rays will do that and see how many bubbles they can make :screwy:

My motoro does that cause bubbles from an airstone built up in one spot. He swims up, splashes in the bubbles, back down and then repeats. It's sorta loud but it keeps him entertained so I don't mind.

I was worried about the o2 as well so i aimed the rturn higher and it agitates the entire surface and lowered the water level in the w/d. Im just worried, i love this fish ans want him to do well ya know. Always wanted one of these since i was a kid.
