When I first got my clown knife he would always hide and come out only to eat. After a while he got used to the other fish and stuff. What I find really interesting is that fact that he got REALLY tame. He would let me pet his back when he came to the surface. It got to the piont that I was spoon feeding him. I would get some blood worms on the spoon and show the spoon to my knife, he would come right to the top of the water and I would feed him right from the spoon. I did this for quite a while until I put him in another tank. Has anyone else had this experience with their CK?

we hand feed our knives quite a bit. It takes a while for them to trust you, but once they do, they remember it:)

people say their killers but imo gentle giants....

" ...until I put him in another tank." You had to catch him, which stressed him out. Now you have to win his trust all over again. Maybe X2 this time. Let us know how long it takes for him to get back to normal.

Hell, mine still hasn't forgiven me for moving him, and it's been over a month since I moved him to a larger aquarium. He's happier with the amount of space he has, but he still doesn't trust me like he did...

Yeah...it looks like you probably gave it a good scare, so it'll take some time and work to have it come out into the open again without having to worry about you coming to snag it again.

The ck's I have experience with take a little time to get comfortable after a move, I have personally fed some "by hand" myself and they aren't even mine so they can warm up to people after they get comfortable,

After I moved him it only took about 1 day before he started eating off the spoon again. I dont feed him like that anymore, I just drop hunks of meat in or feeders and he is happy with that. He now has the habit of coming right up the the glass and watching me at my desk (its right next to the tank) and he will not get scared or run off if I put my hand to the glass or put my head really close. I really like him, he is my favortie fish :)

For some reason he came out and was really hyper when I turned his lights on this morning, he usually goes and hides in his home when I do that. It looked like he was begging for food but I had fed him a ton of deer heart the night before.

as I type this he is looking at me :D :D

Mine finally got to where he's comfortable again. He's always coming up to the glass when I enter the room. An added bonus is that he's takin' worms from my hand again. Took damn near 4-6 weeks to get him back to that place too...
