Howdy folks, issue is behavior of stock in my 75G FW. Of course I welcome all comments on the general setup as I'm not too happy with the planted side of things either.

Stock is 7 Buenos Aires Tetras, 11 Australian Rainbows, about 14 Kribensis, 2 Small BNP, 2 SAE, 1 CAE and 1 unidentified 5" suckerfish. Buenos Aires were the 1st occupants, Rainbows and Kribs came all at same time about 2 months ago, all others added at various times. 2 Buenos Aires were rehomed couple of weeks ago due to aggression. Since that change all stock have been coexisting quite well with no issues at all. (side note: there have also been a pair of Angelfish on and off when not in the breeder tank)

Filtration is a Cobalt canister rated for 55G and a BioMax internal also rated at 55G. Canister runs Floss, Carbon, Ceramic Bio and a bit of Seachem Phosguard. Biomax runs Floss and 2 stages of Bio.

Lighting is a relatively new Fluval Sky and a standard 48" T5 Aquarium Flor bulb. I was running an Aquatic Life 48" 4 bulb T5HO but I couldn't control the algae growth. As you can see in the pic my plants are not doing very well and I still have a small amount of BBA and a bit of hair algae but nothing crazy.

The tank has been up and running for a couple months and water parameters fairly consistent, as of 1 hour ago they are:
PH = 8
NH3 = 0
Nitrates = 10
Nitrites = 0
Phos = 5
Temp = 76

WC = 30% weekly / well water / Seachem Prime
Seachen Flourish and Excel on irregular alternating schedule

Here's the issue: for the last several days several of the Buenos Aires have turned solitary, hanging out in separate areas of the tank (mostly on the left side) and acting protective (not aggressive) of their area. This isn't all the time as feeding brings everybody out with no issue. However, when the Buenos are being solitary just about all other stock hangs together on the opposite end of the tank.

Just seems weird after several months of a truly community tank. Watcha Think.

I have a feeling the Kribs have something to do with the Buenos Aries odd behavior. Keep your eyes on the Kribs especially if they are pairing off and trying to spawn.

Thanks for the input. I have been watching everybody, I believe all but 1 of the Kribs are males and the female is still pretty young.

Yes the males will spar with each other for the right to spawn with her.

No evidence of that yet. Kribs are fairly peaceful all the time and when the Buenos are doing their thing will hang out with the Rainbows.

Ok I have a few kribs and the ratio m/f is pretty even and I will have multiple pairs going at it lol.

I was hoping for a better M/F ratio when I got them, but its pretty hard to sex em when their young ( at least for me). LOL

Once you see the belly of the female in breeding dress you recognize the difference after awhile. :)

So I've heard .......... to date I'm going on fin / body shape. I think the females are a bit smaller and fins are not so pointed as the males. Is that correct?
My Kribs range in size from 3" to 1" and all came from a local fellow that bred them.
