I was at a shop yesterday in Tacoma WA, and I saw a convict that was a male, that looked like a faded black convict. The major difference though was that the tail was red. Not a bloody red, but more of a red devil red. Any one know what this was? Just a isolated mutation, or is this a special type of convict?

I have one of those that just spawned with my Female... I have never seen it and didn't really think anything of it thoguh ...

probably the resulf of a long line of being cross bred with honduran red points. now it's getting to the point that it's hard to find a pure convict because so many fish farms have been crossing cons with HRP's to get their "blue convicts" and the ones that don't turn blue just get sold off as cons. granted the jury's still out as to wether or not HRP's are their own species but I believe (as do many others) that they are.

:)

i saw a 3 cons at petco.they had black blotches in all their fins.all the blotches had little green specs around them in a sort-of circle.i didnt get one cause petco has bad fish, and i already have a big male con.any info on these cons would be appreciated

I recently also picked up 2 cons that are unusually elongated and have alot of yellow coloration in the face and just behind the peck fins. I have regular black/blue cons and the coloration is not the normal female ready to breed yellow/red. I thought they could possibly have been crossed with a Texas:confused: . What do you guys think?
