First off Merry Christmas/Happy Holidays to everyone its been a while since I have posted...

My leopard gecko is my only herp I have left and I want to upgrade her home. She is currently in a fairly bland 20L. I have always loved exo terras so I decided to giver her one. I just can't determine what size. I am looking at either the 24x18x12 or the 36x18c12. I can afford both but I am not sure if the 36x18 is too much. I know leos are not super active so I feel as though it might be wasted space. I also plan on doing a custom background and adding some live succulents.

Also I would like some thoughts on heating. I was looking at a heat mat but would flexwatt tape be a better option?

my uromastyx ( size of a large leo) is in the 36x18x18. if you decorate it enough, it will look great and you wont waste space. I know some succulents are toxic, so do your research.

fair enough, then I think i will go for the 36" cage. And I was thinking of using aloe vera so I don't think toxicity will be a problem.

just remember to trim off the tips/ spikes. they are sharper than they look.

Trimming off the tips could cause the plant to die. There are many types of Aloe vera, choose one that isn't so pointy. Quite honestly I don't understand the need, normal Aloe shouldn't be so sharp that it would hurt a leo.

I dont know about geckos but I know with dart frogs this is extremely rare.

I suspect it would be fine, but i would still do it just incase. The plant will do fine after having the tips trimmed off. I have done so in the past.
