Odd fungus disease-please help!!!

Hey all, my friends tank has been infected by some sort of fungus I'm assuming. About a week ago he cleaned a filter from a salt water tank (not good enough though) and added it to his 40 gallon freshwater tank and since then, he noticed white spots appearing on his driftwood, plants, and fish. It almost looked like fungus. Any thoughts on what it is and how to cure it? He used a fungus medication from API which made his water green-not sure of the name of the med. Any ideas?

Please post pics of the white spots latched on the decors, plants and fish. Unless there is cottony appearance, unless you are really certain of the issue, do NOT treat your fish with anything. It could simply be pure coincidence the spots were found on both the decors and fish.
