Can Music harm a fish. I have my FH in my room and i am a fan of heavy bass music (Dubstep) and i usually play it really loud. I have a little 8 inch sub but it gets loud enough to where you can feel it in your chest. The tank is only like 6 feet away from my speakers and i was wondering has this ever harmed a fish? My fish seems to think nothing of it and acts the same way he would if it was off.

but DnB beats dubstep anyday haha

Fish Can hear. I used to play some heavy bass'd music when I had fish and they seemed fine. Just look for signs of stress while your playing a track.

They can feel the vibration, but some fish live by waterfalls and those are load as hell. I'd say slowly turn it up if you're worried.

Vibration can bother fish. I am a jungle/dubsep producer and I also breed crossbreed cichlids... IME it depends on the fish. Most flowerhorn are agressive enough and strongheaded enough that they can actually enjoy music, I used to have a six bar distochodus that would get crazy excited whenever I would play classical guitar next to his tank, but some of them don't like it. Think about it this way - if you are in a bad mood or just got beat up or something would you like loud dubstep? of course not. But if you are in a good mood you can groove on it. Thats why my house is set up like this - My computer/speakers/music area is on one side of the big lounge room in my house at the front (my house is basically just a shotgun style big room in the front kitchen in the back). I have 5 tanks in this room with my most agressive cichlids in them. IN these tanks I have big texases bps/kkps Srts and flowerhorns. They do not seem to be bothered by the music and in fact appear to get excited by the particularly wierd vibration patterns of some dubstep.

I do not, however, keep all my fish in this room, only my most agressive ones. In the next room where there is less sound and vibration is where I keep my breeding pairs and my clown knife fish as he tends to get startled more easily. At the opposite end of my house from the music area is the kitchen, and here is where I keep my cichlid fry, anabantids, and my cory breeding group as these fish are the most sensitive and tiny.

Its just like people, you can play loud music around those who can take it, those who are startled by it are best removed from the area... It just depends on your fish, and what they like, look at how he/she is acting. If your fish runs and hides whenever you play loud bass then it is probably best to move the tank or speakers or turn your music down, on the other hand if they do not appear to be affected negativley then I wouldn't worry about it, It can't damage them physically or make them sick it can just stress some individuals and this can lead to poor health. Like I said before as well some of my fish even seem to like particular kinds of sounds, I have a kamfa that does the excited cichlid dance to wierd lfo bass
