I caught a shiner today for the first time in many years and experienced something rather strange that I had nearly forgotten about. Everytime I handle them I seem to get a sort of dizzy spell. I used to catch them all the time as a kid and they would always leave scales all over my hands (though the one today did not) I read that this is common but I still confused by the dizziness. It's never happened with any other kind of fish fresh or salt. Anyone heard of or experienced this?

Hmm, never heard of that. Sounds rather odd.

LOL nostalgia... I don't get dizzy every time I listen a Green Day song. But this is really strange. From now on, use gloves?

I handled a bunch of shiners up to 10" last year a few times and never experienced this.

Would anyone happen to have a photo of one?

Yeah its really weird. I have no idea why it happens. Today it was very brief and couldve just been that I had been hunched down on the balls of my feet for awhile when I stood up to re-bait, but previously it was a very distinctive thing that sometimes lasted a couple minutes.
