Been searching for a 6ftr forever pretty much. Found one worth looking into, was listed as a 150 but is 72 long, 18 wide, and 32 tall!!

Thats what 180 gallons? Anyone have a tank with this weird height? It seems, and from the pics that it is crazy tall but looks pretty cool.

This is a used tank, I may have to reseal, am trying to get that info, but I have never had a very tall tank, only 90's, 100's and smaller. I know there must be a lot more built up pressure with the height in one of those, so is there anything added I should do or look at when checking it out? Probably a dumb question but

Hi,

Its pretty common to see "long" tanks that are narrow, guess its easier to find somewhere to put them especialy if its in a lounge room etc. the height is pretty funky although can see some advantages and disadvantages...

Tall tanks always look impressive but reaching to the bottom is a mare, ours is 2ft and that's a struggle as the stand is quite high. The 18" width is also going to limit what you can keep to a degree as anything to large is going to have probs turning in such a tank. Going to guess that it used to house Discus, angels or something else tall and narrow? Could be wrong but i believe if your keeping live plants then extra lighting may also be required in order to penetrate the deeper water.

In terms of what to look for, other than the normal 2nd hand tank checks taller ones are made with thicker glass than "normal" and quite often double thick bases - not 100% sure what's required for 32" but there are some stickies giving that info on this site anyway.

Cheers

Thanks for the quick replies..the tank is 10 yrs old, still holding water in pics and he says the glass is 5/8inch. Gonna take alook at it but yeah I can imagine trying to get to the bottom would be tough. It would house my sevs, acaras, ports, etc, so nothing too huge at all, the 18 width would be ok.

i have to use a grab stick to get to the bottom of mine, hard to move stuff around once you put the water in,the glass in mine is about 1 inch thick, had a lot off probs getting it into the house very very heavy
