As per as I have seen here and in few other reliable places, epsom salt is used for
1. Treating bloat by giving epsom salt bath
2. Treating hex or even prolapse by feeding through pellets for bacterial infections as RD. wrote, NLS also has medicated food that uses it

Recently I have started seeing odd recommendations of use of epsom salt (Seen these in flowerhorn groups only though)
1. Add in tank to "help" fish's digestive system
2. Add in tank to treat Ich (this was today)
3. Add in tank to treat prolapse

Personally, I think long term exposure to Epsom salt will pretty much put fish on diarrhea (as it is laxative as well). What do you think about adding it in tank has any good/bad effects? Does my assumption seems reasonable?

I don’t believe it would be necessary to treat continuously with epsom.
As for the fish having diarrhea it would depend on the dosage.

A small dose may be beneficial for a fish with digestive problems as it would work as a stool softener.

As far as I know epsom will not treat ich.
Since epsom salt is magnesium sulfate and not sodium chloride.

What ratio is good in tank to occasionally aid in digestion?
I recommend that you read through this.
There’s lots of good information on treating various problems with Epsom salts.
