Have a standard 125 Gallon that is going to have the following stock...

1 Male Green Terror
1-2 Severums
5 Clown Loaches

Looking for options for an oddball type that would do well in the tank size with this stock for life. I have kept the smaller spiny eels before so looking for something different (although I may fall back on this if other options aren't that feasible).

Thanks!

Competition between cichlids and bichir for food during feeding time can be problematic. It can be done with some effort but honestly I think that 125 would be nicely stocked with just those fish.

I love me some polys but maintenance is always a concern plus polys arent as smart as other fish and have no problem trying to eat a CL and usually end up dead because of it.

Ive never kept GT but it would be easier to keep polys with herbivorous cichlids and still feedings can be a pain

Are you sure we aren't related or something? I use the phrase "I love me some ____________" all the time and I use the +1 fairly frequently. That's probably why we don't get along ;)

I don't have the poly street cred that jaws does, but I can attest that I have kept a big upper jaw with loaches... specifically, red-tail botias with a big ornate. It's a surprising combo, but it's worked for many months. The loaches were given a good hide in our case and I'm still amazed they didn't get eaten.

I would kill myself if we were related ! aw man even the avatars are similar of course mine is better ;)

This is what worries me with op getting a poly. It will most likely start out as an upper jaw or two and eventually turn into an obsession like it has for most of us and then come the lower jaws. That plus the slow growth rate of cl would worry me.
Unless his cls already have some size
